Zeroboard develops cloud Service“Zeroboard for batteries” to comply with EU Battery Regulation

"Zeroboard for batteries" will be introduced at the currently ongoing Japan Mobility Show 2023, and a dedicated website ( zeroboard ) was launched today, October 31st, and a consultation desk for companies has also been set up.
"Zeroboard for batteries" is a cloud Service that enhances the carbon footprint (GHG emission amount per product, hereinafter referred to as CFP) calculation function of " Zeroboard " to comply with EU Battery Regulation . It also has a linking function with "Ouranos Ecosystem" (*1), a supply chain data collaboration platform being built under the leadership of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Industry, as well as a function to support human rights and environmental due diligence, and will support automotive OEMs and supply chain companies related to storage batteries in complying with EU Battery Regulation with its software and expert knowledge.
What is the EU Battery Regulation?
The EU Battery Regulation , which " Zeroboard for batteries" addresses, was adopted by the European Council in July 2023 and governs the entire lifecycle of battery products, from raw material procurement to design and production processes, reuse, and recycling. Covering the entire product lifecycle, the regulation also requires the disclosure of greenhouse gas emission amount(CFP), responsible material procurement (human rights and environmental due diligence) in resource mining and refining processes, and recycling regulations. Companies in the battery supply chain will need to comply with the Battery Regulation at every stage of the process, from Manufacturing to recycling. Starting February 18, 2025, CFP disclosure will be required for onboard batteries in electric vehicles (*2), and this will apply not only to BEVs, but also to HEVs, PHEVs, and FCEVs. Our company's "Zeroboard" has been selected for a demonstration project subsidized by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and we have been commissioned to develop calculation and data integration applications for CFP and other products that can be connected to the supply chain data integration platform "Ouranos Ecosystem" (※3).
We are also conducting a technical demonstration with Catena-X, a European supply chain data collaboration platform, utilizing an interconnectable platform provided by the NTT DATA Group (*4).
Regarding the key point of CFP data integration, "Zeroboard" is the first solution in the world to be recognized as one that enables CFP data exchange based on PACT's international technical specification "Pathfinder Network," and is already listed as a compatible solution in the PACT online catalog (*5).
Furthermore, with regard to CFP data sharing across multiple companies in the automotive supply chain, we have been commissioned to carry out a demonstration project aimed at formulating the Ministry of Economy, Industry and Industry's Carbon Footprint Guidelines at the end of last year, as well as a project to calculate actual CFP figures with Tier 1/2 companies involved in automotive parts in Mie Prefecture, and are working to build model cases for CFP calculation and reduction support.
"Zeroboard for batteries" combines products for CFP calculation and data linking with automotive industry knowledge accumulated through domestic and international demonstration projects and contract development, to help companies resolve Issue in complying with battery regulations from both the software and consulting perspectives.
