Zeroboard begins introducing " zeroboard construction," a GHG emission amount calculation and visualization tool for the construction industry, to construction sites
- A daily GHG emission amount management system will be put into practical use during the construction phase and will be available for general sale in fiscal 2023 -
Zeroboard Inc. ( Zeroboard -ku, Tokyo; CEO: Michitaka Tokeiji ; hereinafter referred to as "the Company"), which provides " zeroboard ," a comprehensive solution that supports GHG ( Zeroboard gas) emission amount calculation, disclosure/reporting, and reduction, is pleased to announce that it will gradually introduce " zeroboard construction," a GHG emission amount calculation and News tool for the construction industry, to the construction sites of Takenaka Company(Chuo-ku, Osaka; President and CEO: Sasaki Masato; hereinafter referred to as "Takenaka Corporation") from February 2023.
In August 2022, we announced the concept of "zeroboard construcrion," which aims to promote decarbonization in the construction industry, and have been developing it ever since. (*1) We are currently conducting demonstration experiments at construction sites in collaboration with Takenaka Corporation and YUASA TRADING CO.,LTD.(Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Hiroyuki Tamura; hereinafter "Yuasa Shoji"), and will begin introducing the system at new construction sites from February 2023.
Specifically, activity data transferred from IoT devices installed on heavy machinery and equipment at construction sites is automatically imported into "zeroboard construction" in real time through a data collection platform, making it possible to calculate, visualize, and manage GHG emission amount on a building-by-building/daily basis without increasing the burden on site staff (see figure below).

Issue in calculating GHG emission amount in the construction industry
Of the 35% of CO2 emission amount in Japan's Industry sector overall, emission amount from Industry machinery account for 1.4% (*2), making decarbonization in the construction industry a key Issue. Furthermore, the Calculation Method Review Committee for the Greenhouse Gas emission amount Accounting, Reporting, and Disclosure System (SHK System) based on the Act on Promotion of Global Warming Countermeasures announced by the Ministry of the Environment has begun considering adding emission amount from construction sites to the calculations (*3).
Against this background, construction companies will need to face the Issue of effectively and efficiently calculating GHG emission amount during the construction phase, which will likely be required in the future by clients and industry groups.
" zeroboard Construction" - a tool to solve Issue
Through this initiative, data linkage between IoT devices and data collection platforms and "zeroboard construction" will enable efficient calculation, visualization, and management of GHG emission amount across the entire construction site on a daily basis.
We will continue to develop further functions for "zeroboard construction" while reflecting the knowledge gained from operating it on actual construction sites. With general sales starting in fiscal 2023, we aim to make it the de facto tool for calculating GHG emission amount in the construction industry. In the future, we also plan to implement a function to calculate predicted GHG emission amount during the design stage of a building.
