The official name is Life Cycle Inventory.

It refers to the collection of quantitative data on the environmental impact of a product or Service throughout its life cycle. LCI is one of the main components of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), and quantitatively records and compiles the Energy consumption and emissions (greenhouse gases, air and water pollutants, waste, etc.) at each stage of the process.

Representative LCI databases include Japan's IDEA (Inventory Database for Environmental Analysis), Switzerland's ecoinvent, and Germany's GaBi.

A system that certifies greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction and absorption performance in Japan as "credits." J Credits are used as a mechanism to support the achievement of carbon offset and carbon neutrality in Japan, and GHG reduction and absorption activity such as energy conservation measures, introduction of renewable Energy , and forest conservation implemented by companies and local governments are traded on the market as credits with monetary value. Companies working to reduce emissions can purchase these credits to supplement their own GHG emission amount. In addition, sellers of credits can use the profits from sales to invest in further environmental conservation activity and technology development.

One of the calculation areas for calculating greenhouse gas (GHG) emission amount and removals. It includes land use such as farmland and developed land, and changes in land use such as deforestation and conversion to farmland.
